Confluence Open Baffle Loudspeaker System
Confluence Open Baffle Loudspeaker System
Traditional loudspeaker enclosures do their work invisibly — trapping rear-wave energy, adding cabinet resonance, shaping the sound in ways the recording never intended. Confluence removes the box entirely.
A true open-baffle design with a 15-inch 96.7 dB full-range driver, no midrange crossover, and an integrated upward-firing Seamless Sub, Confluence is handcrafted in Australia from sustainably sourced hardwood, made to order, and built to last for decades.
Why open baffle
An enclosed speaker contains the rear wave. It can be damped, lined, and managed, but its acoustic signature never fully disappears. Open-baffle architecture eliminates this: the driver operates without internal pressure, notes bloom naturally into the room, and sound arrives from a single point, undivided.
The result is a presentation that feels spacious and unforced. You hear performers rather than components — not stitched together, but whole. Purity that serves the emotion, not the ego.
One driver. One voice.
At the centre of Confluence is a 15-inch high-sensitivity paper cone full-range driver — a 7.7 kg ferrite motor with copper shorting cap and cast frame — with 96.7 dB sensitivity and an 8-ohm load. It performs without strain alongside SETs, EL84s, 300Bs, and low-powered Class A amplifiers.
No midrange crossover. No filters in the most expressive part of the music.
Vocals emerge intact. Instruments retain their natural timbre. Imaging locks into place with a realism that is difficult to un-hear. When music comes from a single, unified source, the ear relaxes.
Bass that completes the picture
Open-baffle loudspeakers thrive on openness and speed, but benefit from a supporting foundation in the lowest registers. The SCA Seamless Sub is designed to provide that foundation without calling attention to itself.
An 8-inch coated paper cone, ferrite motor with aluminium shorting ring, and a responsive upward-firing sealed enclosure produce bass that is agile, textured, and tuneful. A 150 W plate amplifier with a 40–180 Hz low-pass range allows integration to be tailored to your room.
The result is not more bass, but better bass — bass that breathes with the music rather than pressing down on it.
Open baffle. Wide-band point source. Upward-firing sub-bass. Minimalist signal path. These are not separate parts — they are complementary voices in a single musical instrument.
Crafted by hand. Tuned by ear. Made to endure.
Every pair of Confluence loudspeakers begins with materials chosen for structural stability, acoustic integrity, and long-term beauty. Baffles are shaped by hand, drivers are mounted with precision, and every system is tested and matched by ear before it leaves the workshop. This high-sensitivity design rewards careful craftsmanship, maturing gracefully over decades.
How it sounds
Listeners consistently describe Confluence as:
- Immediate — voices appear with startling clarity
- Holographic — images float free of the speaker
- Natural — timbres are organic and unforced
- Alive — dynamic, engaging and effortless
- Coherent — music emerges from one unified source
It invites long listening sessions, rediscovery of old favourites, and a deeper connection to every performance.
Two expressions. One sonic performance.
Confluence is available in two series — Art and Decor — each delivering the same driver, the same architecture, and the same musical purity, in different aesthetic expressions. Both are made to order.
Confluence Art — Natural. Sculptural. Unique.
Crafted from individually selected hardwood, every Art baffle is visually one of a kind. Hand-finished in natural oils and waxes that preserve and celebrate the timber’s grain, figuring, and character. The au natural profile features live edges and fully organic form; conformist offers a more architecturally resolved silhouette in the same real timber. Both are sculptural objects in a room, not just loudspeakers in it.
Confluence Decor — Architectural. Minimalist. Room-harmonising.
Finished in premium two-pack paint — durable, scratch-resistant, and UV-stable — Decor integrates into contemporary interiors with precision. Available in a curated palette of finishes including pale wood grain, dark wood grain, gun metal grey, snow white, and black satin. Full colour-matching to room walls is available: Decor can be specified to visually recede into its environment, preserving the acoustic performance while softening the physical presence.
